Dallas Stars' Jamie Benn Ejected After Cross-Checking Incident
Vegas Golden Knights Take 1-0 Lead in Game 3
Stars Captain To Miss Rest of Game After Penalty
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - The Dallas Stars' chances of advancing in the playoffs took a hit on Wednesday night after captain Jamie Benn was ejected from Game 3 against the Vegas Golden Knights.
With the Stars already trailing 2-0 in the series and 1-0 in the game, Benn was given a five-minute major penalty for cross-checking Vegas forward Mark Stone. Stone was knocked down and appeared to be injured on the play. Benn was also assessed a game misconduct and will miss the rest of the game.
The Golden Knights took advantage of the power play, scoring a goal just seconds after Benn was sent off. Vegas would go on to win the game 4-1, taking a commanding 3-0 lead in the series.
The Stars will now have to try to win four straight games to advance to the next round. They will be without Benn for the rest of Game 3 and possibly longer if he is suspended by the NHL.
