Tadej Pogačar: 'Vuelta a España almost out of question in 2024'
The Slovenian has set his sights on the Tour and Giro instead

Tadej Pogačar has all but ruled out racing at the Vuelta a Espana in 2024 as he looks ahead to a potential Tour-Giro double. The Slovenian rider, who won the Tour de France in 2020 and 2021, is widely considered to be one of the greatest cyclists of his generation. But after finishing second at the 2022 Giro d'Italia, Pogačar is keen to add the race to his palmares. "The Vuelta is almost out of the question for 2024," Pogačar said in an interview with Spanish newspaper El Pais. "I would love to do it, but it's very difficult to do all three Grand Tours in one year. "I think it's better to focus on the Tour and the Giro. I think I have a better chance of winning those two races." Pogačar's decision will come as a blow to Vuelta organisers, who had been hoping to attract the Slovenian rider to the race. But it is a decision that is understandable given Pogačar's ambitions. The Tour-Giro double is one of the most prestigious achievements in cycling, and it is something that Pogačar is determined to achieve. Pogačar will next be in action at the Tour de France, which begins on July 1.
